SKYND RELEASE “CHRIS WATTS”  SINGLE + VIDEO

Industrial-tinged and true crime-inspired electronic duo SKYND have revealed the video for their new single “Chris Watts.”

Watch it here.

The video was directed by critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated director P.R Brown (Korn, Slipknot, Motley Crue, Audioslave, Miley Cyrus, Green Day, Alicia Keys).

The new track and video tell the grisly story of the Watts family murders in Colorado in 2018. The release comes days before Skynd play a string of sold-out UK shows, starting at the O2 Academy Islington on Friday 18. Further UK dates and festivals will be announced soon.

“When I learned about this case in August 2018, this brutal story stuck with me,” Skynd shares about the single. “I felt the need to write about it. But how? The murder of the children made me so sad that I realized it must only become a ballad. I am still extremely upset about this case, because I was able to follow it live, so to speak. I was there watching when he gave the interviews and when it came out how brutal he was. The Chris Watts case brought out a lot of emotions in me. When children are involved, it is always a little bit worse for me to write about. It is a very grim case when you think of all the details. A father kills his children with his favorite cloth. It’s so heartbreaking, cruel, and brutal that you can’t look away.”

Brown comments, “What fascinates me the most about Skynd is the construct of exploration of past atrocities, not as celebration, rather as an investigation of a broken society that needs to be examined so we can grow from it. I live inside an art-filled mind and any opportunity that I can express a concept with a metaphorical lens is a great day. I am lucky to have found similar interests with Skynd and am beyond excited to explore the further reaches of the human condition together.”

SKYND is the dark creative outlet and the alter ego of its lead singer, Skynd, and producer and multi-instrumentalist Father. Having released Chapter I in 2018, followed by Chapter II in 2019, and now with over 18 million hits on YouTube, “Chris Watts” follows “Michelle Carter” as the third single in Chapter III, alongside 2020’s “Columbine.”

Chapter III will continue their exploration of the darkest and most disturbing parts of the human psyche, following their belief that “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

SKYND are known for taking inspiration from inexplicable and brutal criminal cases and the mystery surrounding unsolved deaths and transforming them into songs to remind us of the darkness within the human psyche.

The live tour in February 2022 is SKYND’s first headline tour.

“I am looking forward to this, I can’t wait,” says Skynd. “I was due to tour after the Babymetal support ended, but COVID. Father and I have been busy writing songs and planning videos, but I cannot wait to stand on stage and feel the vibe. I want to see you. I want to feel you. There is something so powerful about being in a room together, nothing can replace that feeling. We are making sure that this tour, our first headline tour, will be something very special and unforgettable.”

ABOUT SKYND:
We all conceal something behind the earthly façade we show to the world. Maybe it’s an unspoken fetish. Perhaps it’s a covetous urge. Or it could just be the kind of darkness we acknowledge in passin g —but don’t dare reference out loud. SKYND peel back those layers and uncover what lurks beneath in all of its painful glory. The industrialized gothic electronic duo — Skynd [lead vocals] and “Father” [producer, multi-instrumentalist] —exorcize beauty by bloodletting as they mine some of history’s most baffling, bizarre, and brutal crimes across their EPs.
