Women in Music and the International Music Managers Forum Announce Partnership in Global Commitment to Advance Diversity and Equality in the Music Industry
The International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) and Women in Music (WIM) have entered into a partnership to recognize the role of women in the music and wider creative/entertainment industries, globally, and support plurality and all types of diversity in the music industry. The partnership will promote and foster diversity, equality and collaborative opportunities for members of the music industry around the globe.
Together, WIM and IMMF will work towards fostering transparency and fairness, facilitating global networking and providing opportunities for artists and managers to access resources.
The partnership is designed to encourage growth of new organizations, communities, and networks in regions where they do not currently have a presence and will raise awareness for a variety of issues in line with the missions of both organizations.
“We saw overlapping interests and came together to acknowledge the importance of sharing initiatives, opportunities, information and resources that would lead to an improved music industry with improved diversity, inclusion, equality, and transparency,” said Volker May, Chair of The IMMF.
The vision is to create community and organization and provide structure that was not available as both organizations expand across the globe.
“We’re thrilled to officially formalize our partnership with the IMMF. Their support during the launch of WIM India in 2018 was key for our organization’s growth in this region and we look forward to opening up chapters in additional countries in the new year and beyond,” said Jessica Sobhraj, President WIM.
An announcement will also be made from the stage at the Women in Music Holiday Gala Celebrating the 25thAnniversary of the Music Managers Forum – US (MMF-US) on December 20, 2018 at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City.
