When a band describes itself simply as “heavy and violent,” it often comes across as a lack of ability on the band’s part to come up with a truly unique way of describing their sound. It can feel forced, lazy, and unoriginal. It’s cliché most of the time… with the keyword being “most.”
Southern California crushers Face Your Maker aren’t most bands, though. Their music is built on a foundation of blast beats and breakdowns.
Drawing from traditional deathcore influences, a la early As Blood Runs Black and Winds of Plague with a penchant for contemporary aggression and lurid, low-and-slow brutality, Face Your Maker come out of the gates with an arsenal of shredding riffs, gut-twisting grooves, and prolapse-inducing breakdowns and with their impeccable live performances.
Face Your Maker combines the best things about the traditional heavy music stylings of deathcore greats that we know and love, infused with modern metallic production and malicious, murderous intent that makes them a band you cannot ignore.
